In the early 2000s, my father and I traveled the country in a MOPAR interviewing folk musicians from all walks of life. This is just a sampling. Our archives, hundreds of DV tapes filled with interviews, performances and visits, was lost in the fire.
I knew nothing about video cameras or video compression. Dad insisted on wearing the cowboy jacket a traveling musician from North Carolina gifted him. Our 1968 Dodge Coronet was a four-door rust-bucket on the outside, but under the hood, the 318 engine and entire drivetrain was brand new. Hot rodded by a dear friend, the car was faster than lightning.
The adventures we had on this two-year road trip would fill a book or make one hell of a movie. We were having so much fun that it never occurred to us that this was something special.
I love you, Pop. Thanks for the laughs on the road. It was one hell of a ride.
